Above the opening of the tunnel, there is a sign that states: “Is Kennywood  Open”.  Any boy growing up in the Pittsburgh area knows that if someone looks at you and says “Kennywood is Open,” that means that your fly is not zipped up!  The local Eat “N Park restaurants have this sign on the inside of their men’s room doors to remind men and boys leaving the restroom to check their zipper.  No one seems to know how this phrase started, and it doesn’t seem to be used anywhere else, so this is truly a unique Mon Valley thing.
